Creative felt designer, and author of the Next Level Felting books, Nancy Wesley feels that turning wool into felt is a little bit like magic. In her Cowichan Valley studio, she combines needle felting techniques with the ancient methods of wet felting to create her line of fibre art. Nancy has taught fibre art for over 15 years and designed a line of Learn-To-Felt kits to share her love of felting with everyone.
I start by hand-dyeing roving in the colours I want to create with. I lay down tuffs of wool, like brush strokes of paint, then felt it all together. Many layers of wool and many hours go into each piece but it's a meditative process. I also have a line of Learn-to-Felt kits designed for beginners. This way once people see the process of my felting they can go home and try felting themselves.
