Kayoko Kawano is a Tofino based artist whose lifelong drawing practice and deeply rooted appreciation for nature led to the creation of Wild Life Illustration Co. Her work is a celebration of the endless happiness and wonderment found outdoors. With each illustration she with hopes to offer little reminders to get outside, love nature and live a wild life.
My illustrations are drawn by hand using pencil, pen and paper and closely reference the shapes, and details found outdoors. I then scan these line drawings and add colour digitally with a carefully created colour palette. This process allows me to combine the personality of my hand work with fields of solid, natural colour that create a unique graphic feeling. The final artwork is then sent to my printers, mostly located in Victoria and Vancouver.
