We are a group of weavers, spinners, knitters, dyers and felters who meet several times per month to exchange information, support each other, teach new members in their catagory of choice, encourage experimentation, and inform and encourage the public to honour and respect heritage arts and crafts in a modern world.
Our menu of crafts focus on learning about heritage crafts and how they were/are produced. Loom weaving requires treads. We prefer natural fibres such as wool, silk, cotton and linen but also use man made yarns of rayon, bamboo and acrylics. These fibres must be spun into a thread on a wheel or spindle. Often they are immersed in a dye bath to produce a variety of colours. Yarn is also used in knitting.
