Born in England and raised in several countries, Robin began making drums in University and after gaining his degree kept on developing his craft and the music it creates. His philosophies and spiritual path are inseparable from his creation ethic, all rooted in the fluid continuity of nature. He lives on Vancouver Island and endeavours to lighten the modern lifestyle with this continuity and simplicity.
Sylvan Temple salvages local wood to create percussion instruments. The lathe is the primary tool, but there are many processes, from milling and steam-bending to a myriad of drilling, joinery and lamination techniques, as well as considerable rawhide and skinning work. All aspects of creation are committed by the sole owner Robin Shackleton. His passion for the forest guides his creation systems, and the general structure of his business.
