As luck would have it, a wrong turn down a hallway landed Canadian Glass Artisan Sarah Mulligan in the School of Craft and Design building at Sheridan College in Ontario. That day she discovered the hot glass studio and has been working glass ever since. Sarah’s body of work is a combination of blown glass vessels and glass jewelry. Her work maintains an affinity for minimalist design, attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
50% of my glasswork is blown glass. Using heat, breath, gravity and tools I take the molten glass and transform it into solid useful beautiful objects like drinking glasses, bowls and vases. The other 50% of my glasswork is glass jewelry. Using cold pieces of glass I cut, grind, drill and decorate glass with 22k gold, platinum, and enamel which is then fired in a kiln, often multiple times to achieve the desired piece.
