Sarah Beatty completed her BFA at OCADU in 2004. For many years she taught high school art and had an art practice in Toronto. In 2017, Sarah and her partner moved to BC. She built a pottery studio at home and has been slinging pots ever since. Sarah makes forms that are simple with designs that are fun. Mostly she wants you to laugh or say aww when you pick up her work.
I make wheel-thrown mid-range functional pottery. I make my glazes. My materials are from pottery supply places in Canada. My surface design strategies vary—sometimes I draw with underglaze, sometimes I use a wax reduction process to draw with glaze. All of my work is food safe. I do the whole production myself.
