I turn wood into functional art on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island. What started as a way to unwind during the pandemic quickly became something I couldn’t put down. I love working with locally sourced wood—often salvaged or storm-fallen—letting the grain, knots, and imperfections guide each piece I create. Because I often work with salvaged materials, most of my pieces are one of a kind.
I turn *mostly* locally sourced wood—often salvaged from storm-fallen trees—into functional and decorative pieces. Using a lathe, I shape each piece by hand, letting the natural grain and imperfections guide the design. I turn bowls, vases, candlestick holders, rolling pins, platters, etc. I do produce a few non-turned items with carving tools (power carving) including bread dishes, for wooden spoons, butter knives, etc.
