BIO

Since the late '60s, in Canada, the USA, and internationally, my work has been exhibited. In 1991, I purchased a building built in 1928 of first-growth Douglas Fir. I found inspiration in the wood and dismantled parts of the building to produce boxes and furniture, and to provide a new medium for my artwork, creating “Wood Assemblages,” abstract and suggestive compositions made by the manipulation of geometry, intricately piecing together various-sized cuts of wood.

CRAFT

My artwork (Wood Assemblages) is made from recycled Douglas Fir or Cedar tongue and groove, which has been randomly cut and shaped. I use a free hand to cut curves and explore the material. My finished pieces are stained, painted, and waxed, while I also maintain some of the patina of the aged wood. I also create boxes and furniture using the same method. Large print reproductions are hand-mounted, coated, and then framed.
